Constructed in 1913 our home has weathered the worst Iowa's weather has to offer. From tornado strength winds to summer heat and humidity, this house has stood up for 92 years and counting. When we took over as caretakers almost 9 years ago we agreed that it was our duty to do no harm.
Until now.
Because adding to our family is not life-changing enough, we have also decided to undertake a major addition to our home (mostly because our wonderful neighbor promised to babysit for us if we didn't move). With only one bathroom and a small dark kitchen, we found a local contractor who shared our vision to add more space without radically changing the layout. They began digging this week.
These pictures are from this week's progress (click on each photo to enlarge).
