... or maybe we'll just call adoption day "Molly's Day." Every kid should have their own special holiday.
We've ended the week with no news and we're a little anxious and disappointed, though nowhere near the level of some other members of our travel group judging from their posts on our Yahoo! discussion group. Maybe it's a good thing we work long hours and have a busy social life (it's good to have friends). Maybe after another week we'll follow them down the slide into borderline despondant. For now we choose to remain optimistic that Monique simply wasn't able to translate seven packets of information this week because she was busy making travel arrangements for the two couples in the group ahead of us. That sounds entirely plausible, doesn't it?
Still, it's gotten so that I'm eating Lean Cuisines for lunch now most days too (add Fiesta Chicken to the list), rather than going out. And every time the phone rings I prepare myself for Monique's voice. I hope the press contacts, sources and friends who are usually on the other end of the line don't hear the note of disappointment in my voice when I realize it isn't her. It's nothing personal, really.
Jon said last week was the longest week of waiting for him. This has been mine. Let's all hope we hear something early next week.
On a happier note, the floor is in, the lights are installed and working, the plumbing is in and working - except for the kitchen sink. Now we're just waiting on the appliances and countertop.... and the appliances I know have arrived in town. Maybe they'll be there when I get home tonight. Crossing my fingers now.
Have a nice weekend. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood.
