Our State Fair is the BEST State Fair!

It's hot and humid so that must mean that the Iowa State Fair is in full swing. We made our first visit today (yes, there will be more than one) as part Wells Fargo's Team Member Appreciation Day (yes, I am a Team Member). Thanks for the free admission Wells Fargo!

Despite the heat (and smell) Molly could not get enough of the animals or aminals as Molly has a habit of saying. We saw sheep, chickens, cows, boar (including the big one), horses, elk, roosters, rabbits, ponies, chicks, and goats (but no fainting goats). Molly's favorite, however, was the llama. The body of a hairy horse, neck of a giraffe, pointy little head, and oversize ears. The A-#1 favorite, hands down. Call me crazy, but I anticipate that there will be another trip to llama pen.

Second to the llama were the tractors. Like any good Iowa kid, she eagerly tried to climb onto any tractor that wasn't already occupied by another little (or big) Iowa kid. Whether it was the yard work we just had done or "Bob the Builder", Molly was really into pretending she was moving dirt.

The most unexpected move was as she climbed into the rim of the giant 8-wheeled John Deere, she turned to one side and announced "I'm running in a wheel, just like a mouse!"

So far we have avoided fried things on a stick....but we will be back Tuesday.
