O Tannenbaum!

The Howell Tree Farm was open for business on Saturday morning at 7:00 AM. Unfortunately, we did not get there until Sunday afternoon. While our selection of fir trees was somewhat diminished, we set our sights on finding the best tree since last x-mas!

Molly and I devised a measuring system. While I held her up, could she reach the top of the tree? If not, it was probably a good size.

It took some walking around, but we finally found our tree. Midway into the grove along a main aisle, it had everything we were looking for: soft needles, not too much yellow, a stout but straight top, and good spacing between the branches.
After a short hike back through a forest of tightly packed (and notably cheaper pine trees), Molly froze in her footsteps when she heard jolly "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Inside the Howell Tree Farm Gift Shop, Santa was double checking his list with the little girls and boys. He was also hand
ing out a pamphlet from the Real Christmas Tree Lobby entitled "Fun, Facts, and Folksy-Lore" which includes such fun facts as:
"For every Christmas tree cut each year, 2-3 baby trees are planted to replace it." and
"One million acres of Christmas trees are growing in all 50 of the United States."
Molly asked for a toy car.
