I'm One!

Chalk one up for sleep deprivation, but here are the two photos I most meant to include in the last post. They're from Birthday Morning and show the pile of presents from Mom and Dad, and those sent by friends and family. Molly was very cooperative - whirling and bending and trying to tip over off the cushion and topple off the table. Dad did his best impression of an American Baby "Baby Wrangler," propping, snapping, gooing, squealing and catching while I tried to snap a few photos that captured the moment. Maybe the series with Jon's arms and various other body parts would say it better, but these at least show it's her big day and we are ancillary to it.

Saturday was the BIG BIRTHDAY PARTY with friends, neighbors and coworkers (see above). Melissa and Phil and Yvonne and Kelly found a room, bought a helium tank for balloons and had typical birthday party fare of strawberry jelly-filled cake, jelly bellies, animal crackers and soda. Phyllis' reaction was "Wow. That's a lot of kids." She stopped by this morning and we agreed that while it might just be Daylight Savings Time, the feeling the morning after is not unlike a hangover. She and Bill were very nice to play along and treat the event as a sort of sociological expedition, rather than the ear-torturing event of overstimulation it may have actually been for an intentionally childless couple.

Molly was very amenable to being the center of attention, running laps, touching balloons, visiting with new friends and opening presents. She's definately with the program on the presents. She loved all of the new toys and has been playing with them intently, sequentially, since we came home. We even read some new books at bedtime. Our thank you notes are underway...

I'm also happy to report, in my new duty as Chief Laundry Spot Remover, only minor spills sullied the new white sweater we put her in... however, we'll be visiting Dixie the Drycleaner Monday. Thank God no one put bananas on the Birthday Party menu!

If you know how to remove banana from cotton clothes, please call me at once! I'm growing to hate that fruit, much as I love that she loves it! Even the failsafe SprayNWash stick isn't doing the trick!
