This year’s version of Des Moines’ traditional Chinese celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival was held in conjunction with West Des Moines' new event “Illumifest”. Martial arts demos, moon cakes, Beijing Olympics photos, inflatable bouncy houses, and paint your own lanterns. While in theory paint your lanterns seems like a great idea, the reality is a little less desirable. The green paint took a lot of washing to get off.
