Well, we're finally leaving tomorrow!
My last day at work was Friday, so I spent Monday running around finishing up last minute things. After breakfast with Yvonne at La Mie, I ran laundry, got the drycleaning, went to the bank for travelers' cheques and cash, mailed off our tax info to Dad, rangled the car seat into the Jetta, filled the car up and got a carwash (It's really nice here!) sent Valentines, updated the registry, stopped the mail and paper and filled the last of my prescriptions. Big day.
Today was a little less hectic. Jon stayed home from work to pack and run his errands. I went for a pedicure to relax a little bit, then took Jon's truck to the carwash (nothing is too good for my Valentine).
It was an absolutely beautiful day here. After a bit of snow on Friday and some slight flurries over the weekend, today it reached 60 degrees and was sunny in that it-isn't-really-that-much-longer-now-until-spring way that happens when there are still a few bad snowstorms in store before it turns to spring for keeps.
The packing mania finally hit us about 2:30 and before 5:00 we somehow managed to get all of our stuff and Molly's into two 45lb. suitcases and two carry-ons.
So, we went to Gray's Lake for a walk. The sun was setting a huge, warm orange ball through the trees, reflected off the lake as we walked back toward the car holding hands. It was the sort of corny moment that you don't forget - like this is the end of a chapter of our lives and the next one starts tomorrow. Sort of interesting that it happened on Valentine's day.
We made dinner grilled pork with salad and lots of vegetables tonight, we both figure we won't get a good meal for a couple of days while we're in airportworld. Now we're sitting and watching the Olympics, and I'm uploading some new CDs that Tom sent into iTunes. I have one last load of wash going and it's almost bedtime.
I think we're as ready as we're going to be for our life together, phase ii.
Thanks for all your support.
Cheryl
