Parents today!

Li, our guide, works for a different adoption agency but is friends with Nelson, because they see eachother all the time - the groups all go to the same places on the same days. She's very nice. She's been a guide since 1997 and has the college student sort of ease about her.

It's 4:50 and we got a few hours of good, deep sleep and some hot showers with great water pressure. Room service just came to pick up our bags to take them to the bus. We are meeting the group in the lobby at 5:30 and we're packed and ready. Jon just went off in search of coffee for us. The White Swan is very nice. It's elegant with a fountain and a giant boat carved from jade in the lobby. We stood in the lobby changing money last night and watched the event screen - there were at least four weddings going on.

Our room is small but very pleasant with marble floors and soft comforters on very hard beds, as many people had mentioned to us. We have no complaints about them. We both slept really well and our backs feel great. The beds are better than our futon.

When we get in to Nanchang, we will have a few hours in the hotel, the Gloria, and we'll be able to meet up with the other two families in our group - who arrived in Beijing as originally scheduled on a different flight. I'm looking forward to seeing Mark and Sarah and Julia again. We'll pack a diaper bag for the first time in our lives and be off to the provincial adoption office in Nanchang about 3:00.

We're getting nervous now as the weight of what we're doing really sets in.

Cheryl
