While Monique (our Agency director) reminded us this morning that it could all change at any moment, we have had another wonderful day with the most amazing baby in our world. She sleeps all night, she wakes up cuddly, is quick to give us a smile, and eats nearly everything you put in front of her. I recognize that this is only day two, but things could not have started out any better for the new Rainford Dreibelbis family!
After breakfest in the hotel this morning, we headed out a group to Super Wal-Mart to pick up supplies. Cheryl described it as being in a dream in which everything seems familiar but yet not quite right. There was the Wal-Mart Smiley Face, the "Everyday Low Prices" posted on bold placards, and that strange lighting you only get in Wal-Mart. But the everything else was a little off, from the limited selection, strange pricing, and shopping carts that rolled too well.
This Super Wal-Mart was located next to a giant park/monument. As Cheryl may have noted earlier, we see the August 1st Bridge out our window which commemorates the first shots fired in the Chinese revolution. Nelson described Nanchang as the Boston of China, so the giant park/monument is the equivalant of Bunker Hill. Does the Super Wal-Mart represent the next revolution?
The rest of the afternoon was uneventful. We got our laundry back which was neatly wrapped in plastic packages and witnessed a funeral prossession replete with white robes and fireworks. For dinner we went back to the restuarant around the corner and had another fantastic meal of noodles, rice, soup, and other tasty bites.
After supper we experiance our first Molly Meltdown. Out of nowhere (at least to our new parent eyes) she got increasingly fussy until it developed into a full blown cry. We thought maybe she was overheated or wet so we started taking off layers which only increased the volume. There is a theory that she thought we were going to give her a bath thereby increasing the anxiety. However, once we put her in her PJs and gave her a warm bottle of formula, she back to her happy self. We are just asking that she bears with us.
Love Jon and Cheryl
